Jif file Reader/Viewer + Jif2Png(Watermarked) + Palette exporter (ACO / PNG)

INFORMATION : The Watermarks in you PNG's files are normal, also when Moving you mouse or pressing a Key. I made a mistake by releasing a version letting you convert to png without permission of the author. So please, in respect of themers, contact them and ask them for pngs if you want to re-use their work. (The same applies if you simply copy the jif)

Functionalities (1.1.0):

Drag 1 file

Jif Information Reading :
--Length
--Width
--Colors number
--Alpha or not

Jif Display :
--Display a Jif with the corrects colors
--Apply the Alpha
---You can pick another Background colot.

Drag 1 Directory full of Jifs
Folder will generate all png's in the original folder
The software will create a file in the Jifs directory .
Filename Infos.txt

--Sample of the file result:
Button.Primary.Navigation.Fav.Applications.jif; L47; W60; A1; C54
Button.Primary.Navigation.Fav.Applications.Selected.jif; L47; W60; A1; C56
Button.Primary.Navigation.Fav.Contacts.jif; L47; W60; A1; C57
Button.Primary.Navigation.Fav.Contacts.Selected.jif; L47; W60; A1; C58
Button.Primary.Navigation.Messaging.jif; L47; W60; A1; C54

Filename ; Length; Width; Alpha (1yes/0no); Number of colors
It is ; separated to allow openning in Excell.

Color Infos + Color panel Saving

v0.9.0b:
New function : Full folder scanning.
It create a file named infos.txt in the Jifs folder containing all the informations.
Simply Drag a folder full of Jifs ;-)

v1.0.0:
Convert to Png
-Convertion is back with Watermak.
-Also, Software loosing the focus will draw the watermark.

V1.0.1:
Small BugFix : When a directory was dropped, then a Jif file, no informations where shown for the file.

V1.1.0:
Color Information list (R G B)
Color Panel Export (in PNG format)

V1.2.0:
Color Export to ACO Format -> Photoshop palette format. Can be imported directly.

V1.2.1:
Maintenance Release.

Result with Watermark (original from Amana UI 0.1 - Nimche)

hey man just put a quick test on it... it isnt giving the right results.. at least not with some icons... i think.. plz download the jif images which are in the packages in the link i post in this reply :)... i get this result when loading one:

@Strages:

Sorry but my software is ok ;-) The icon you try to open is only ALPHA ;-) there is no image, try with one from the APPS folder.

Lika I said, this soft does'nt show the Alpha...

But As I can see, it would be nice :D so I do it now...

Let me 15 minutes for updates

@Stages,

Saving to png, bmp, or jpg is really easy to do (in fact 10 minutes... Most of this time changing the log file) BUT :

I need the PointUI team to let me do it as I already saw some thread about protection of the work done...

If I got the allowance (?ok?) I'll do it :D

heh, ye i already thought so ;) np man youre work already saves a lot of time and work! i am not into programming ..so decrypting a format to another format is not the most easy thing .. at least not for me :) well see in the future though!

Hi costp,

I don't have any issue with this, although I'm waiting for Shane to come online so I can chat about it with him. The jif format is not intended to be closed and we always thought we would need to make some more tools down the track for it, although looks like you beat us :) In regards to the protection, while the jif files aren't a problem for us, messing with cdl files would be - they are what we will use in future to provide protection, although they have encryption to help with that, and we may look at extending the level of protection the cdl files offer in the future as well.

I would then allow to save back to pngs.

Only for you to be sure, I will never try to hack your software, I only intended to help Themers / Skinners ;-) So don't worry(at least for me).

Joel, also, is it possible to get the exact function you use for the 16bits -> 24bits convertsion ?

Is it RGB565 ?

Also, It seems to me that my Alpha is too 'soft', What is the relevant value ? I mean, do you use the full 8 bits or only 5 as it looks better if I only use them and multiply by 8 ?

By the way, I made a new release cause the Alpha was not good enough...
Now everything looks better...

Hi costp, yes 565. The idea with jif is have image in native format for devices so is quicker to load - we don't convert them to 24/32bit. However, to do that you would just split out the r/g/b from the 565 value and build each one into a byte using the value as most significant bits and having zeros padded for least significant bits. The alpha values are 5 bit.

Okay, Update done :

- Png export ;-)
- Update check

I red from somes that they would like to not allow edition of their Jifs.
This is not a good way to do it. As it is really easy to take a copy of the phone screen and get the jif in any format. You can make as many protection as you want, this would never block anyone to use your files.

Now talking about credits, It would be a nice from the p.UI team to allow a 'Signature' of the Jifs (by using some false colors never used or the 3 not used alpha bits).
I don't see anyone here using your jifs/pics without permission. It's up to us to keep it clear I think.

But okay, I add a small tool to "protect you jifs";
