    @gui:

Sorry for the confusion, those screens are not in any way part of Pointui Phone. I was just trying to show some screenshots of how the 7even theme and Pointui Phone Classic skin go well together. The active/inactive screenshots are part of a mod I did for the Adrenaline suite to have Home2 startup Pointui Phone upon initial load vs. using a shortcut in the startup menu, which may cause Pointui Phone to only function partially. Again sorry for the confusion and I've taken the screens in question down.

Fair enough! I'll give it a go and then report back, I wonder if they will release a skin for email as well, enabling you to write email in the shell, not just taking you to the windows mobile rubbish.

  3. Question - When the OEM Skin is set to save memory, it is supposed to not show anything when you are in a call? All I get is a blank white screen.

  4. Neff,
Mine seems to be ok with colors and some extra stuff like pause button.

    @Neff:
From looking at the registry when Save Memory is chosen the default OEM skin is chosen with the HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin\Enabled key set to, 0 vs. 1 is Waste Memory is chosen. Though not totally sure why this is necessary for this app, but under normal circumstances using the default dialer skin definitely uses less memory than a custom one.

  6. Well, I am giving up on PPhone until we hear more from Pointui. I like it, I just want to be able to use it with Home2 on my Omnia too. :(

  7. @Neff + @Norrinradd

The OEM skins place graphics as substitutes for the default Windows Mobile dialer controls. So on my Omnia they have a cream coloured set of square buttons, turning off the OEM skin means the dialer reverts to the Windows Mobile dialer (6.1) that has the grey and slightly rounded buttons with a white list and stupidly small scrollbar.

Re OEM: Its not necessary but people are so fixated on memory that the option was an easy win for everyone, not all users get into the reg. In some cases the OEMs have timers and all sorts of wonderful hooks into the device which we work around to make Phone work nicely. Turning off the OEM skin can help get around some of the irregularities those timers/hooks we don't know about.

  8. @cdaters, As per above post, use an Omnia with a Home 2 Pro and Phone as its the primary test device for QVGA.

    1. We're adding the option in settings so a shortcut is added to the Start Up folder to save everyone the hassle.

    2. I find the Omnia lock on calls so frustrating, you don't even get time to put the phone on speaker before it locks. Plus not all phones have a lock while on call so it makes it universal if we have it in Phone. An easy solution is to have a setting for Autolock.

    3. Is it stock Home 2 install, what applets are installed, etc? Its just with Home 2 running? Memory usage?

    4. Thanks to the variety of WM devices we have the 'same' device only its different. We have the Omnia but our model is the i900.

  9. @gui, There is a bug that prevents the screen from displaying, we'll have it fixed in the next release.

    Hello,

Very nice app. I have a request regarding this application. I need to dial worldwide phone numbers and I cannot use the "+" key. Is it possible to activate this key ?
    Thank you !

Hi, this is a great, innovative dialer... Awesome.
On my Touch Diamond 2, when a call comes in, I can only answer with a swipe, though I would much prefer to use my hard keys. Can this be changed?

    Thanks

I agree that the ability to use hard keys as well would be nice. There have been a few times where I didn't get the slide-to-answer screen and had to wait for the call to go to voicemail before I could even find out who was calling.

  15. Neff, you need to be quick! I guess we are not much used to use a swipe thing since we don't have an Ifone.

    Has anyone bought this yet?

It wasnt a matter of being too slow. The screen never switched from the first PPhone screen to the slide-to-answer screen.

    Thanks for the reply.

    1. This will be a nice option. I was saving this until it was working awesome for me, but an option to do this will be much easier ;)

    2. I agree about the autolock on the Omnia, my issue is that my cheekbone likes to press all kinds of other buttons and there are times that I inadvertently hang up on people. My wife absolutely thinks my phone sucks for this reason. I acquiesced to the autolock and use bluetooth for handsfree instead. I like the autolock feature...possibly with a variable delay that can be chosen in the options?

    3. I am using latest Home2 Pro install, no extras. It is installed to device memory (not My Storage or Storage Card). Both apps are, actually. And yes, my PPhone problem occurs only when Home2 is running too. If I do not run Home2, I have no problems with PPhone.

    4. I hear you about the variety of devices out there. I am willing to test anything you want to throw at me....

Today I have received the first incoming call while using Phone 1.0.0.6 and I noticed that I wasn't able to accept the call by pressing the green hardware button.
The same button does work fine for opening the Phone.

BTW, the phone was (auto)locked, but unlocking didn't help either.
It was never a problem with the OEM phone to directly accept a call with the hardware button without unlocking first.

    I have an LG KS20 with Windows Mobile 6.0 and Home2 v2.1.06c.

  19. bonz,
This is a known issue and I think it was intended to be there to make sure you are only using the slide to answer feature. Eventually you get to use it right after a while, as I explained before since we have never used it like slider it will be weird to do so.
Actaully after using it since it first came out, I have to admit that I like the slider.

How do you change the time format from 24 to 12?
My phone freezes up every time I use any other program besides PointUI Phone.

  21. I just noticed something.. the "last call" on the main PPhone screen isn't truly the last call. It is the last incoming call.

    Just my OCD kicking in.

    Ah, ok.
I assume that you can slide anywhere on the screen to accept a call.
Because I didn't see any dedicated sliding buttons or areas during the two occasions of hectic fumbling when I got a call. :)

    @bonz:

You slide from left to right as shown below. You then see the in-call screen (also below)

  24. I like the slide to answer feature. When we are able to skin this, I am sure we can come up with some better to understand graphics for those who don't see it right away.

Will you be publishing a roadmap for Pointui Phone?

  26. Had PPhone running this morning, phone was locked. Got a call and it flashed the OEM skin, then when to the PPhone "home" screen. Since the hard buttons don't respond, there was no way to answer the call.

Please let me know if there is specific info I can give to help diagnose this problem. I would love to use PPhone, but if I can't answer calls it is useless to me.

    Thanks, ganzee!
I must have completely overlooked this.

But yes, I definitely want a different skin for PPhone.
One that matches the classic, black Home2 skin.
Also, I'd like to have the icons in a more consistently ordered manner, not spread around differently on every screen.

    Another thing:
Is PPhone supposed to autostart on WinMo launch?
Because if I soft-reset, I get the OEM keypad for entering my PIN, with the OEM phone running afterwards.
If I manually add a shortcut for PPhone to the auto-start folder, will I then get the PPhone keypad after launch for entering the PIN?

    Ok, I tried that.
PPhone auto-launches but it doesn't come up with the keypad.
Entering my PIN only works after shutting-down PPhone and using the OEM keypad.

The most reliable auto-start I have found is NorrinRadd's mod for the Carbon Adrenaline applet. This has consistently worked for me.

I tried putting a shortcut in the Startup folder, but still got the OEM dialer. I've removed various 3rd party software such as Touchpal and Fingersuite in case these were conflicting with Pointui Phone, but still had the same issues.

(The other successful tests I have had are without Home2 running - I don't want to lose Home2 though!)

It definitely seems as though there are some issues with this and that a properly managed startup routine for Pointui Phone is needed.

    More issues I've found:

--PPhone does not override my phone's auto-lock when a call is coming in. That means that I have to first unlock it (2 taps) then use the slide function to accept the call.
The OEM phone overrides the phone lock and allows pressing both the hardware buttons as well as the soft buttons to accept a call.

--One time the screen with the slide-to-answer did NOT appear when a call was coming in. Unlocking didn't help and since the hardware buttons don't work, I missed the call.
