  1. Pointui Phone
Trial runs for 30 days (requires one time internet connection, activesync to PC is acceptable).
    Includes Classic and Zun3 themes.

    Technical Details:

    • WM5/6/6.1/6.5
    • Touch Screens Only
    • English Only
    • QVGA/WQVGA
    • VGA/WVGA

This may work on square screen devices but we don't support them at present.
This should run on non-English devices but we only support English at present.

While Pointui Phone is running you will not have access to your standard WM Phone application. If you need to use your standard WM Phone application you can exit Pointui Phone (to exit click i then the power icon) at any time and it will resume working normally. If not, just soft reset your device.

    Fixes/Updates
    - Phone is focused if attempt is made to launch it again while it was already running (this may have been why some thought it wouldn't start back up
    - Launching the OS contact card view to edit a contact now works correctly
    - Any wait cursor code we had in the startup of the app has been removed
    - The phone now rings correctly on devices like the X1 and Diamond that were not ringing on an incoming call
    - The favorite area of the home screen is now aligned to the top/left when slid to using the favorite contact button - this is to make it seem a little more friendly, and all squares in that view can have a favorite added - feels a bit more "conventional"
    - An additional contacts screen was added from the home screen to allow browsing of all contacts
    - Text color automatically adjusts for favorites that have no photo and display text by taking into consideration the square color
    - Phone no longer is focused when phone status changes like flight mode
    - Fixed memory leak with Call History

    Known/Reported Issues
    WM6.5 Wait Cursor
(This may be fixed now, we were unable to reproduce, so let us know if it's still happening or not)

    Unconfirmed not loading on WM6.5
(This may be fixed now, we were unable to reproduce, so let us know if it's still happening or not)

    Download
    QVGA/WQVGA
    VGA/WVGA

    best shane.

I'm using the phone for a long time and always run into the same problem: The call end key don't respond well.
So I was thinking about a layout change, and This is my idea:
What would it like, when you put a slider like mega, s2u2 etc, but vertical (so from bottem to top), you can alighn it by options on left (for lefthand sliders) and right (rigthand, like me ;)) side of the screen. At the half of the side of the screen with slidin up to awnser, sliding down (a little harder to do, so won't and it without wanting to end)

Then you have the rest for buttons and a lot larger caller id, because it takes to long to recognize the person.

What do you think of it, little nice. It is origanel

    thanks for reading

    Great job Shane & Joel!!!!!

This release is so smooth and quick! Only noticied once the WM6.5 waitcursor bug, but this was only after the app was just installed and going to keypad then immediately back main screen, after that when exiting app could not get it start again. Resolved by softreset and have not seen it since...

Also, will you release steps to add custom themes of our own soon? Thanks again for this wonderful phone app!!!!

Test Device: T-Mobile USA HTC Wing
    Screen: QVGA
    OS: WM6.5 build 21725
    ROM: JustHomeV11 by ivanmmj

    Some feature wishes:
    1. Customizable theming
    2. One click or click hold dialing on fave contact and contact screen
    3. Auto-lock options based on call type (incoming or outgoing) and/or duration (onconnect, custom time after connect to lock i.e. 10 seconds after connect lock the screen)
    4. Speed dial on keypad

  7. @Nimche - I have that issue with Home2 in WinMo 6.5. What ROM are you using? I wonder if it is some bug that is getting cooked in to the ROM or if it is something on the PointUI side...

Looking forward to trying out the new version.

Edit: So the beachball is gone - Great!
The contacts are organized better - Great!

This is a huge improvement from 1.0.04b Great job to everyone involved.

  8. I don't know what ROM was it. He said that he used the clean Win 6.5 mixed with original xperia rom. I amy go back to 6.1/

I waited till I got the first phone call and my phone was going crazy. I couldn't pick it up and then the phone screen went black. I have to do more test when I get out of office.

thank you for this app,it is beauty.

    there is a mistake:
when i lock the screen, and the screen tuen off (the device is stand by)
there is a incoming call, sometime it can't display the incoming call panel for pick up the call.
and i hope it can include the option for "don't pick up the call" in the new version.

  15. Is there a way to make the PointUI Phone load on startup? I keep forgetting to start it when I soft reset my phone.

Fast work, Shane. Slightly disappointed with the release notes:

Slide to Answer to prevent accidental acceptance of incoming calls

    Whatever happened to:

Suddenly your testicles are having a conversation with someone.

    Quick theming question:

Is .pkg another Pointui proprietary file type?

    Put a shortcut in \\Windows\\Startup :)

    @victorj:

Shane has already stated the following:

we actually had the gesture upward to relfect picking up the call but the canvas animation and future functionality meant it was better to get left to right.

Looks unlikely that there would be any layout change, especially now that the software has gone on sale. Nice idea though ;)

  22. [UPDATE]

Disregard, it now seems to be working. When I hit my phone hard button, Pointui Phone comes up...right after I installed it and set my OEM Phone skin to "saving memory" I did a soft reset, then hitting the phone button initially took me to the Windows Mobile phone dialer (as opposed to the Samsung Omnia dialer) so I thought it wasn't working like it should, I guess it just took some time...?

Okay, I thought I knew my phone (Verizon Omniai910)...I am playing around with Phone, so far I have not used it to much, but I like it.

I would like to map it to my “phone” hard button, but I don't see an option for this in Windows Mobile “buttons” app? Is this do-able?

After reading through some of these posts, I thought that I should state that I am running Home2 all the time, and I would like to be able to press my “Phone” button to pull Pointui Phone up when I need it instead of the Windows dialer. Does this make sense?

Now I am curious...is this not meant to replace the Windows dialer? Do I need to leave it running all the time?

    Hello,
Wonderful software. But how can I activate the software if the software is already on my ppc?

The one problem with this is that when the phone starts up, PointUI Phone is in focus. IMO, it would be best for the software to just add itself to the startup list and not come in to focus. The OEM dialer doesn't need to be shown when I start the phone. This should behave the same way.

It is also unfortunate that Phone is priced at $20USD. I didn't mind shelling out $20 for Home 2, but that was a whole GUI revamp that covered multiple aspects of my phone experience. This only deals with the phone dialer. While I know that a ton of work went in to this, I wonder if it would be an easier sell if the price point was lower, or if people who already bought Home2 Pro could receive some "customer loyalty" discount.

  26. Okay, so playing with PPhone (Pointui Phone) on my Omnia I have learned some things:

    • PPhone must be launched before it will “replace” Windows Mobile dialer. At that point it will be mapped to the phone hard button.
    • Omnia dialer lock does not work with PPhone dialer. Though PPhone does have it's own lock that you can manually initiate once your call connects. The absence of the Omnia dialer lock means that the display rotation and haptic response continues to work (so your screen keeps flip/flopping and generating a force feedback each time while on your call) which can get annoying.
    • Home2 and PPhone don't play nice on my Omnia. I have the latest versions of both. With Home2 running, the first time I use PPhone it works just dandy. After that, it seems to illicit some strange behavior. Such as it does not totally come back into focus. You can see that it sort of does (I can see the application title bar, but that is all) however, I can no longer interact with the application (i.e., I cannot make or receive calls from the handset itself). I can still initiate calls using my bluetooth, though I do not see anything come up on the display. Notice the two screen shots below. One will show Home2 running with PPhone “sort of” in focus. Because I am in PPhone, I should not see Home2? Incidentally, I was on a call when I took that screenshot. While in that call, I tried to adjust the volume.
    • Finally, for the developers, I have included my “version screen” in case that helps with anything.

I would like to purchase this dialer app, but I can't say as I will until I know that it is working with Home2...? I am willing to test anything you want to through at me. Right now I am working with it using Verizon's/Samsung's widgets. I am not having any issues with Home2 disabled and using it in this manner, but I miss Home2!

Cor, I guess it must be me, but this interface looks like a nightmare, colours and patches all over the place, I would never in a million years be able to get on with something that looks like this. I've not installed it yet though so my comments may be completely unfounded, but the vid really frightened the life out of me :)

I'm sure there will be more conservative skins, I really would love to replace the defualt wm dialer, but not with this how it stands.

Trust me, give it a try. I felt the exact same way when I saw the demo video. After I played with it for a few minutes, everything made sense. The update they made to the contact page helps a lot. I think the one thing that needed to be shown in the video is that each of those random squares can hold a contact image, so you can set the contacts up however you please.

And I would highly suggest the classic skin. The Zune skin is kinda garish IMO.

I agree with Neff as well. It's pretty slick once you start using it and I'm sure they'll release more themes and how to create themes ourselves. For now it looks great with 7even theme to me...
