this problem is here from the start (first release of home 2).... I have made topic but no solution from the devs...

Edit: I have investigate on this a couple of time but not found a satisfying solution ....

  8. So, Pointui team, we're waiting for a fix for this problem! Twitter allows us to use 140 characters, but Pointui has lower limit!

  11. Just one question, is it allowed in the scope of this contest to change the twitter.cs file from the common folder (In order to add some functionnalities).

    Cheers

hey joelaloose.. as i see it, you can do whatever you think is best to get the result you want ;)

  13. @joelaloose: Yes You Can
    ;)

  14. If you modify Twitter.cs in Common directory, other Twitter applets may not work correctly. Better make a copy and put it in your applet's folder.

  15. What needs to be changed in the base Twitter.cs?

  16. For instance the support for direct message sending or status destroying.

I can send direct message with the actual api... what's goes wrong ?

But I have change little things in the api like names of files in cache . And add some images downloading methods.

  18. alien maybe you are usign the "d username" pattern in a regular status update for direct messages ? But I think that it is also possible to use the "http://twitter.com/direct_messages/new.xml" option of the API.

Concerning the image downloading methods, I think I have some issues with "void DownloadProfileImages(String xmlFilename)", I'm not sure but I feel like this function is sometime causing some crash of pointui (maybe it is my implementation also) did someone notice this ?

    Cheers

ok I understand for the direct message, I use the D @username.

and for me the DownloadProfileImages method is not functionnal at all because she search wrong value in xml...

  20. Indead the "current" DownloadProfileImages only works for "followers" or "following" xml files (more generaly file representing users).

So before this contest ends, there will for sure be a Facebook applet right? :( All this Twitter talk, and I have no twitter. I mean I've jumped from myspace to facebook to.. Well I figured I'd stop at facebook and see where it goes.

as this is an applet contest where the creaters of applets can do whatever they want as long as it has a strong connection with social networks, it may be well possible that such an api/applet is on its way to victory ;)

  27. strages, please unregister me too. It's not OK when programmer has to use workarounds to meet the assumptions of contest. I'll release my Twitter applet out of the contest when the Text Input problem is fixed. C'mon, Pointui team! We can't enter more than one line of text!

    Posted 1 year ago #
  28. Such a shame gronostaj.
Suggest you continue your work with this known limitation.

    Posted 1 year ago #
  29. Twitter has 140 characters limit, with Pointui I can enter up to 80 if what I'm typing makes sense. Yes, limitation is a good word. I'll release my applet out of the contest and only with complete features. Please unregister me.

could you now just create a virtual second text input screen for the remaining characters? - perhaps even finding some way of linking these together with some natural control regulating flow from one text box to another?

im no coder so apologies if this has been tried and tested im just trying to think 'outside the box' or 'outside the text limited box' in this case!!
