   Official Applet Contest, yes ladies and gentlemen finally its going to start!

   Vital information:
   This is the official contest and it is already begun! look for all the things you want to know beneith my nice teaser!

   What do you need to do? - Create an applet that will bring Pointui closer to social networks ... imagine an amazing twitter applet or an applet which bring you closer to your friends by integrating MSN.... show friends all your pictures on your phone with an picasa or flickr applet !!! etc etc We'd like to see what you can think of!

   Prizes? - yess!!! ^^

   - First prize: US$300 pointui donated
   - Second prize: US$100 pointui donated
   - Third prize: US$50 pointui donated
   - Fourth prize: pointui pro version for free myself donated
   - Fifth prize: pointui pro version for free zelendel donated
   - Creativity prize: Pointui T-shirt (totally new, fresh and clean :D) Montecristoff donated

   - Just to keep overview I'd like everyone who will compete to put this in his post!

   - The competition is a Community run and supported competition and should be done in the spirit of the Community. No offensive, illegal or inappropriate materials will be accepted. Anyone who violates this will have their account removed and entry disqualified

   - By entering into the competition you agree that if your applet wins you grant the rights to Pointui to distribute the applet as part of the base Home 2 product (Free and Pro or Pro only if applicable) and waive any rights for remuneration for its distribution

   - Pointui reserves the right to disqualify an entry if it violates copyrights and/or trademarks, by entering you agree that any prize monies are to be returned if this information is brought to our attention (and validated) after prize money has been awarded

   - The applet must not pass on confidential and/or sensitive information to any third parties when communicating with any online systems, failure to comply will result is disqualification

   - Teams are permitted but the prize money will only be paid into a nominated account PayPal account

   - The author acknowledges that the applet is their own work, any disputes are to be raised directly to Pointui via email (info -[at]- pointui -[dot]- com). Use of the applet will be suspended until the matter is resolved

   - The winning entries will be posted on pointui.com and its subdomains and/or distribution portals and may be used in promotional material including but not limited to screenshot and videos

   - All Home 2 Pro serial numbers given away by existing customers must first be deactivated for use on their phone to do so, the original customer must provide their transaction id, serial number and the name and email of the person to whom they wish to transfer their license to. ( zelendel, plz read this if you still want to donate ;) )

   - Unless otherwise stated prizes are provided and managed at the discretion of the Community.

   - Pointui offers the following prize money:
   - First prize: US$300 pointui donated
   - Second prize: US$100 pointui donated
   - Third prize: US$50 pointui donated
   - Fourth prize: pointui pro version for free myself donated
   - Fifth prize: pointui pro version for free zelendel donated
   - Creativity prize: Pointui T-shirt (totally new, fresh and clean :D) Montecristoff donated
   
   - Competition closes 12pm (noon) 3rd August 2009 AEST

   - Aplets will be judged according to how well they work, look and suprise us!

   - Pointui reserves the right to modify any of these clauses

   I just check the flickr api on the flickr website and it seems its not possible to use the api for commercial use without autorization :
   http://www.flickr.com/services/api/misc.api_keys.html

   ....

   I don't know if the fact of use the api in an applet is a commercial use... but if the applet come with the pro version?

   So what can we do with that?

   edit:
   For the picasa api I've not seen something like on flickr. :)

    hey alien! ill add ya to the list in a min

    for your question.. as this is a community driven contest and not intended to make money, plus the applet will be available for pro and free version as written in the clauses i think we can say that it isnt commercial. However it may be that flickr thinks otherwise. Cause you can indeed win money.. if you win the contest... even if it is indirectly connected.

    i love picasa :) (still hope google increases storage space)

    Now I am somewhere that I am not sure I have to be there. I am not a programmer but I will try. I was going to do it with alien (graphic wise) but I guess he is not intersted.
