We've consolidated Home 2 into the one package for distribution so the functionality you had with Free is now known as Lite in this new package. Home 2 will run in Lite mode until it is activated. Once activated it will run with all the Pro functionality.

Many thanks! Love the new theme, very colourful. Also love the new button-select highlight. Tried switching off the script error reporting, and loading an applet which gave me trouble in the past (sonic 2.5). Still wouldn't run.

And I also like the fact that for getting Pro all you need is an activation code. Does this mean that it is valid also for upgrades, and installs on more than one device?

Alienworkshop, I think the list is good, if people complain Home 2 is random then we having something to start from. If they're not running problematic applets then we know Home 2 has the issue.

The display of script errors should be turned off by default, in the Menu > Customise > Show Script Errors what does yours have, Yes or No?

Updgrades as in point releases eg 2.1, 2.2 etc are free. It is still and will remain one activation for one device, we will be providing a system to allow you to unlock your activation from an exsiting phone so you can activate on a new one in the event of the original phone being broken/returned/updgraded.

It is indeed off by default.

That's exactly what I had in mind, I'm considering upgrading, my trusty old Elf is getting battle-scarred and memory-challenged, just like its owner ;-)

I will in any case be getting Pro soon!

The error reporting switch is a good idea, but there should be also something for programmers like in PHP or MortScript. I mean some procedure allowing to set reporting level: only critical errors, warnings or even simple messages like never used variables.

And the activation reminder is really annoying :/

Might be a daft question, but what effect does the new Threshold config option have?

I have tried different settings for this on my TyTN II - once I have chosen a setting other than default, I can no longer revert to default, only 20,30,40,50KB. What is the default setting for this?

I'm a SPB shell 2.1 user, but i didn't like what they have made with the 3 version.
Very neet but seems incomplete and without the much needed customization and integration.
I've got contact with pointui and try to see if it suits me but sadly it doesn't even work in my omnia.

I install it in main memory and everything is ok. When i run the program my omnia freezes and pointui does not initiate. I've got plenty of memory (20mb).

Does anyone knows why doesn't it work?

Problem is solved.
In order to make it work i installed pointui in the device and not in the main memory.
Also disconnect all programs from home screen.

Ganzee, not a daft question, we could have given it a nice name or modes (we might once we have enough feedback about the settings on different devices. We've gone with values for now so people who want to get in and mess with it can and we're all talking specifics not fancy terms.

Please note, VGA values are 4 times larger then QVGA, so when we say 20kb on the QVGA its 80kb on VGA

Basically the file mapping is used to the process space (the apps memory usage) isn't taken up with large allocations. This means that if its set to 20 (the default) files that are over 20kb will be mapped. So if its 20k and you load a large image thats say 25k the applications mem usage doesn't grow. Why do this? because it means we can run on lower spec devices and we avoid the problems of low memory shutdown requests by the OS.

The side effect is what we're seeing is VGA/WVGA customers have slight pauses/hitches when accessing files that have been mapped. These customers can now increase this so the images are loaded in the application memory space which may improve performance.

gronostag, it is a good suggestion and we will have a look into at some stage and weigh up the pros/cons but for now programmers just need to go Menu > Customise > Show Script Errors and turn it on. We look at it form the perspective that you shouldn't ship your applet until you've got everything ironed out (within your capability of testing that is). The avg user doesn't want any messages, they don't understand them, even the simple ones.

Errors are always logged to the file so even if you don't have it showing the error message its still captured.

Thanks Shane - I have set my QVGA device threshold at the maximum level of 50K. Performance appears to be improved as a result :)

It's me, your favourite poster.

I have the new version installed, seems very stable, but then I'm only running a few mostly standard appts ATM.

I'm not going to bitch and moan about it....BUT :P ... I was really hoping to have a contact filter for Company/Name by now, I know in coding terms for you guys it would only take a few lines to get the contact list filtered option in there? Please Please Please, essential function for business users!

Also wondering if under My Application it would be possible to add a scroll feature to allow more favourites to be stored on the page? I'm outta space!

Yes a contacts search would be brilliant, but then again I organise my business contacts within folders, sometimes folders within them, no other UI allows this.

Something I would love to see is a better way of searching/testing Applets...

Seems that the WM6.5 lock/auto lock is better, anyone else found this. S2U2 seems to have issues with Pointui, so I uninstalled. seemed to be going to the WM6.5 default lock screen then you unlock that to find the S2U2 lock screen.

Still wish there was a way to allow HTC task manager to work.

Couple of other things I'd really like to see.... is there any way to Cache the contacts list so that rather than reloading it everytime, it just updates the new or changed contacts, or is that how it works? Take me ages before I can use the abc scroll.

Also another please please please, can you make it so home goes to the first applet when you hit the home key, or hold the home icon button, something anythign that means I don't have to swipe through all my applets to get to the one I use for my status/clock etc..

Logicalstep, I too would like a filter for contacts. So, because there isn't a filter, I have installed iContact (supware.net) and now when I double tap contacts in pointui, iContacts automatically opens (I didn't need to fiddle around with anything, it just does it), with a filter built in. Not a perfect fix, but I find it works really well. iContacts takes very little memory (about 1Mb when running but is so fast you can close it every time you have finished with it), is freeware and is very smooth and fast in operation (I only have 15Mb free when I soft reset running Home2, with just two applets running). You probably know the program, but it works for me.

I suppose I could point that button to the default WM contact program, which is ok on the touch hd, just be nice to use the functionality thats there in Home2.

Shane, you could leave the error reporting switch in settings, but also add the feature I've wrote about. Applet developers would have reporting enabled and could choose reporting level in their code. Users would disable reporting and script engine would ignore level. I think it's the best solution. Oh, when Pointui displays script error, the number of line which contains error could be useful :)

On the GSM Treo Pro:

1) very slow to start up,
2) always opens a data connection on startup, even if I've only changed themes,
3) still locks up when "asleep", but seems less consistent in that.

Normally, hitting the "end" button wakes up the phone, then hitting the dpad center button unlocks it. With Pointui 2 running, that sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. But, when it works, it takes a long time before it does wake up. Maybe related to #1?

@kraski 2.1.04 initialized data connection for me and this one does too, so I think it's normal. If you don't want programs to connect automatically, you can use MoDaCo NoData to disable connections and then enable them when you need to.

Thanks, gronostaj. I'll try that. Interestingly, all my Pointui apps that use a data connection are set to manual update.

On a probably unrelated note, I've been testing an app called ibrowz that pulls in content from various sources for offline reading/viewing. On occasion, when I change themes in Pointui Pro, instead of Pointui exiting & restarting, I get ibrowz coming up first. I have to exit ibrowz before Pointui will restart. And there seems to be no consistency as to when or after switching to a particular theme.

Something I noticed: the SIP flashes and disappears in text input screens. It takes several taps on the text box to get it back out.

Also, has the bug where text input screens can't accept multiline input been fixed?

I'm Zenguruone and having trouble with the applets that I downloaded. I have Touch Pro unlocked by Cymonex, followed the instructions for downloading and after transfering files to Home2 when I tap any of these applications it don't show up. Please advice.

There´s a Problem with german "Umlaut" (don´t know the english word for it). This are ä,ö and ü.
The Problem ist with at least every Applet, that has a .txt savefile and where you have to choose an programm. For example:
The slideshow: I choose the Programm to view the picture when clicking on the applet, which is located under \Windows\Startmenü\Medien Album.Ink (i have a Samsung Omnia, but the folder should be the same in every german windows mobile device).
The "bug" only appears after shutting down an rebooting my device. The .txt-file now has some weird information like: \Windows\StartmenÃ¼\Medien Album.Ink
Now, every time I click on the applet to start the programm there is an error appearing and the programm isn´t starting. (which makes sense, cause the folder "StartmenÃ¼" doesn´t exist, its name is "Startmenü")
I think with some earlier builds, there wasn´t this problem.
Would be nice if you fix it but i can at least live without this bug, you just have to choose an other folder where to start this from, which has no ä,ö or ü.
But since you have choose an programm from startmenu you have to edit the .txt file manual.

Sorry for my english.
