Hi all, This is the first release of my Tiles applet.

I'd like to thank the following people:
PointUI team for the great platform
xpres, for the redesign of the applet, and helping me with the graphics
Blueocean, for the release of his PointSense suite, i've gotten some inspiration from his suite
AKILalmaZZ, for the release of Infinity, this is what got me to build my own applet. Also got some inspiration there ;)
The community, its great to see so many people dedicated to .UI.

First beta now available, roadmap will follow soon.

The applet currently is configured to use weather from my own region. When you want to change this you have to edit the tiles.cs file, and replace the weather url. Future releases will have an option to select the weather location.

    Installation instructions:

      VGA Only:
    • Tiles.b01.VGA.zip --> Part one of zip file
    • Tiles.b01.VGA.z01.slpit.zip
    • --> Part two, needs to be renamed to Tiles.b01.VGA.split.z01 so winzip recognizes this as the 2nd file of the archive. Use Tiles.b01.VGA.split.zip to unzip all the files. Winzip will automatically detect the second part.
      End VGA only

    • Extract all files to Home2 installation dir.

    Roadmap
    B.0.1
    -(Complete) General applet design
    -(Complete) System Tile
    -(Complete) Communication Tile
    -(Complete) Weather Tile
    -(Complete) Agenda Tile
    -(Complete) VGA and QVGA support

    B.0.2 (Current Release)
-(Complete) Ability to change applet (weather) settings
    -(Complete) Calendar Tile
    -(Complete) Weather forecast
    -(Complete) Slightly modify design

    B.0.3
    - Contacs Tile (.UI default / Tiles version)
    - Calls Tile (.UI default / Tiles version)
    - Apps Tile (.UI default / Tiles version)
    - Inbox Tile (.UI default / Tiles version)

    B.0.4
    - Implement user requested features (none atm)
    - Build in support for configurable tiles

    Known bugs

    • Next alarm doesn't function properly
    • Contacts, Calls, Apps and Inbox tiles not yet working.
    • VGA and QVGA don't fit
    • ...

Note: This applet is best used in combination with PointUI Nextgen by Cardefbel or Pointsense Homescreen.

Any remarks or suggestions on improving current available functions are welcome.

    Cheers,
    Peer

I don't understand what we need to do in order to get the VGA file. When we rename the file, what do we do with it? Put it in the applet ribbon folder? The Tiles folder? The main Home2 folder?

@gianmarco: When you have renamed it you can unzip it using the Tiles.b01.VGA.zip file. That file should not be renamed.

Sorry Peer, but that isn't making sense.

There are 2 VGA files listed above. I renamed the Tiles.b01.VGA.z01.zip to Tiles.b01.VGA.z01

How would I use the 2nd file to unzip the 1st? That doesn't make sense. The 2nd file is also a zip file. In that file is a main folder called "Tiles.b01.VGA". In that folder, there are 2 more folders named Themes and AppletRibbon. Those seem to contain the filed needed to put the applet on my phone.

That still doesn't explain what I do with the renamed file. Am I supposed to place it somewhere in particular? Once it's renamed, it's not associated with any particular program.

I'm sorry but you just have to be more clear with what is needed to be done in a step by step process because it's not evident.

The zip is built out of 2 files, because it's not allowed to upload a file larger than 2000kb. That's why I split the ZIP into 2 parts. When you have renamed the file, it's recognized by winzip as being the 2nd (or 1st) part of the zipfile. And thus you can use it to unzip the required files.

    Cheers, Peer

  19. I Think It's quite clear, it's just a splitted zip file. you initiate the unzip process from the "main" zip file (Tiles.b01.VGA.zip) and it will automaticaly include the "second" zip (Tiles.b01.VGA.z01).

That might be the issue then. I don't use winzip. I use WinRAR. Thus, when I double click on the zip file it simply opens it up as a file folder and I can drag and drop it anywhere I want. Opening the file using WinRAR doesn't seem to recognize the 2nd portion of the zipped file (the renamed file). So no, for me, it's not automatically associating the 2nd file with the 1st. That's why I asked what to do with it.

  21. Should work the same way, you have to use the "extract" (something like right click, extract..) function of winrar not to open the archive

I did use the "extract" function. It still isn't recognizing it.

ETA--May have finally gotten it. How large is the final extracted folder supposed to be? I have one that's a bit over 10mb. Is that right?

I've moved the folders over (10mb in size) and still not working. Only getting a clock at the top. No tiles.

That should be the right size. It might shrink over upcoming versions, though it's mostly related to size of the images.

Mostly working for me except for known bugs.

Looks like a very neat interface although I don't see myself using it over Pointsense. Still, fantastic work and very neat concept.
