    Hi,

This is my first Applet for pointui, it show your daily horoscope.
It is also my first time coding for anything on windows mobile, but i am enjoying it so far. I know the applet is pretty simple, it was more like a project to get use to the coding for pointui but I hope somone likes it :P.
I have tested it, but there probably could be some bugs in it, if you find any, let me know and i will do my best to fix em.

    Screenshots

    Instructions
    Pretty simple:
    click settings
    select your sign
    click update
    read your horoscope :)
(you can also click full horoscope, if the message is too long to fit in the screen)

    Compatabilty
    QVGA (240x320)
VGA (only tested on emulator, do not own vga device)
Has been tested on wm6 emulator and HTC Wizard running wm6
(should work on any qvga with 240x320)

    Next project
    Looking into S2P control applet

If it works for you and you like, your welcome to leave a message :)

  4. I just installed your applet.

Looks good, but type size a little small for my old eyes. I am running it on a Palm Treo Pro at 320x320 and the Pointui applets do not fill the screen from side to side (yet!).

Also, today is February 28th, but the Libra horoscope for March 1st is displayed.

    Hi,

    Thnx for the replies.
I will add vga support soon.
The date showing March 1st is actually not a problem or bug of the applet but it is the date that the feed is displaying for the horoscopes, i do not think there is much I can do about that one..it updates somewhere during the day i suppose to forecast for the next day.

Installed on HTC Tilt. Now I have a brick. Can't get back in to delete it!

Edit- Ended up pulling the battery to try to get the phone working. Now I've lost everything, and need to reinstall it all from scratch. EVERYTHING! I AM NOT HAPPY!

PS- Ended up doing a hard reset, but lost some things in the process. I realize it's hard to blame the applet, but the timing was really suspect. I'm running WM6.1, BTW.

More: I took a risk and re-installed this applet. It works great. Not sure what happened to my phone, but it's back to normal now.

Hmm, that's weird. The applet should not be able to cause such problems.
Or you running wm5 or wm6? The app has only been tested on wm6, i have no way to test on wm5, as pointui till now refuses to run on the wm5 emulator.

  8. Regarding the Feb 28th/March 1st issue, do you think it might have something to do with a time offset? I am US Eastern Time Zone (-5:00 GMT), maybe the feed is in another?

yup, that is probably exactly what the problem is. The server that is generating the feed is in a whole different timezone. It is not completly accurate for me either.I myself am in +1 gmt, and i have the same problem..somwhere around 8 or 9 in the evening the horoscope for the next day is displayed if i click update.

Nice applet - exactly (what i think, anyway) what an applet should be: small, simple, quick to use and a single objective/focus.

Thanks - works a-ok on Htc Cruise (Polaris), WinMo 6.1, no bricking, no infinite battery drain problems, etc...

    ;)

Nice one - cheers, keep it up.

    You have good timing!
I just uploaded the vga-compatible version, it should automatically detect wether you have vga or qvga. Give it a try (version 2)

Thanks for the app. It's kind of confusing, is version 2 a new version? It sounds like it's for vga and qvga so is the original version still necessary?

Original version is not really necessary anymore and will be removed as soon as i am sure the new version is not causing problems :P

@tigernest, it is hard for me to believe that horoscope is causing you these problems, but in any case, if you are having such issues with it, i would recommend you do not use it anymore. I have till now not been able to reproduce your errors, so even if it was the horoscope applet causing the probs, i would not be able to fix it at this time.

Just to say I have this working smoothly on X1 and looks great! Would be good if it had autoupdate feature.

Thanks for all the hard work :o)

very interesting app! ...sadly, it's only actually worked one time...

...when I had it on default settings, it showed me one horoscope for aries... however, it doesn't seem to want to do ANYTHING else. I can change it to scorpio to suit me, but i won't get a horoscope, just the symbol and a empty screen.... and it seems the update function just does nothing for me.
