    [Applet] 1View !

    June 16 2009
    First Alpha Release V1

    1View Applet
This is the first Alpha version of the 1View applet. The applet is inspired by the Zune and the upcoming Windows Mobile 6.5. I have reused a lot of the great work done by other community members. This is QVGA only.

    Instructions:
    -unzip to AppletRibbon directory
-click on Panel controls to change focus, in focus panels provide additional options
-click and hold out of focus Panel controls to move in focus panels to current out of focus panel position
-in focus settings panel provides network, sound, lock and close home settings
-in focus clock panel provides operator name, alarm and date information
    -clicking on clock launches clock.application
-in focus text panel provides view of latest text message
-clicking on text messages launches messaging application
-in focus calendar panel provides view of calendar (Today, Tomorrow and Week)
    -clicking on appointment launches calendar
-Settings.xml contains settings for the panels
-Use default Home2 (2.1.0.4) theme with custom background images.

    Credits:

Default Messaging Applet (for text Panel)
Tronic MyStatus by Brsev (for clock and calendar Panels)

How is it possible as a 6.5 ROM user and Zune owner that I NEVER noticed the similarity between the two? Probably because one's a touchscreen and one's not, but still. Can't wait to try it.

@oscarbum i think its about the upcomming zune ;)

absolutely beautifull idea! i already thought of an applet like this, but did not proppose this idea, cause i already propposed the android idea ... love to see this being developed!

strages, actually the Android concept was kind off the inspiration to the Zune concept. I wanted to keep the visuals in the WinMo family ;-)

  7. Nice, but it should be better than wm6.5's. You can change the fonts a little or something like that, just don't follow wm6.5

Marvelous idea. I was actually hoping someone would be able to make this happen. It would be a huge pleasure considering 6.5 won't be available for most if not all old devices.
    Good luck to you!
I'm not so good on coding but I'll help in any way testing or creating graphics if you need.

Thanks daimwn. I will let you know when I need help with the graphics. I stumbled on gimp (freeware ofcourse) while trying to create the graphics. Just curious, do you use the same?

Hi, I am looking for the png file for a rectangle (3D) which spans across the screen (QVGA) to use as the focus rectangle in my zune applet. The rectangle object or other 3D image does not seem to have the visual effect I would like. The visual effect I am looking for is like the png file (which looks like a transparent 3D rectangle with a bubble effect) being used in ashburn's blackberry theme as a background for the quicklaunch buttons (phone, programs, contacts & email).

I am also looking for other backround images similar to windows mobile 6.5 to use in the theme....thanks

hmm...the reason why I purchased PointUI was solely because the GUI for omnia and Titanium just doesn't measure up. Really don't see the benefit of retro-fitting PointUI to that of Omnia or Titanium.

me, I'd rather stick to SonicUI or InfinitiHome layout.

Then again, to each his own, so... :)

I have seen my share of home screens and would rate the home screen for omnia pro next to spb mobile shell 3 in terms of practicality and great single view of the information it provides.

Yeah I guess its each to his own :) and that's what makes using PointUI great

I don't have a VGA device to test, but I will try to put the code in during the code rework phase. No timeframe in particular due to my time constraints. I am open to handing over this applet to any willing developer.

    @ praveen_crasta:

This is amazing, good work! I have reduced how many applets I was using with this one applet to just 3! If you could add in the backlight brightness function with auto feature (like Luminosity) to the settings that would be another one I could get rid of.

[BUG] Some of the features in the "Autolock" don't work. It may be that you haven't coded them but clicking on some of them don't bring up anything. The only thing that works is turning autolock off/on.

[BUG] I have noticed an error (Using Home 2.1.4), when I activated WiFi it brought up the error about it complaining to show the name of said network name.

    Thanks!

EDIT: I noticed, holding on the top most line (text, settings, clock) will change which one is at the top. Or was it holding on whichever one you wanted would send it to the top. Whatever it is, you can rearrange them which is cool! I also changed my clock to 24hr (edited the settings file).

Thanks WildSioux for the comments and reporting issues, I might have inherited some bugs when I reused code. I will try and resolve them if possible. I don't have WiFi on my device so I might not be able to recreate the issue and resolve it. If you can send some screen prints then I can at least try to make the code fixes. Thankfully 2.1 now provides script errors.

I guess I must have not articulated the click and hold functionality quite well. I used the click and hold option since finger gesture events are not yet exposed by PointUI. Maybe it can't be because it steps over core functionality.

As you mentioned it provides the ability to rearrange panels by clicking and holding on an out of focus panel, the current in focus panel moves to the current click and hold position. Anyways you get the drift :)

+1 for weather (and WVGA of course!!)

I have a QVGA device which means a lot lesser screen real estate hence I only introduced panels that I could fit in. I did have plans for the weather panel after the current roadmap. I need to however first refactor the code to try and make the panels more pluggable and the rest should start falling in place. Time is the biggest hurdle right now but I hope to get there.

Ι've added translation for this applet to my greek translation thread.
Is possible to localize the texts of main screen (settings, text, calendar) or is part of graphics?

what appears as text on the main screen (settings, text and calendar) are images/graphics. You can create the images and replace the .jif file is the respective sub folders (for example: settings.jif, text.jif and calendar.jif)

Fantastic work. Replaced my old flipclock applet as home. Now I have a couple of sugestions and things that i noticed
    - as above, some feature of autolock do not work on my device
    - i would love to se text replaced by SMS and some sort of a counter integrated, such way that it woul show the total sms number and the number of unread ones
    - it woul be great if I could navigate through the calendar, text, settings clock with the hardware joystick that aI have on my mio a 501 device.
    Al the best,
    MM
