[Applet] Weather from yr.no (VGA/QVGA)

    This is a version that seems to run on 2.1
    As I was working on the next version, I did the debugging on the new one
    Therefore, the one uploaded here has a few functions that may not work well but the basics should work so that you have something until I get the whole thing working again:

    - Settings should work now (Click and Hold location and just click to cycle trough the options for each item)
    - Reload policy is not finished. I therefore suggest that you leave autoupdate off
    - The back/fwd buttons in detailed view does not work
    - Meteogram does not work

    Please test and send your comments.

    I do not expect to be able to work much this weekend

    New version again
    I have tested all functions of this version with Pointui 2.1 (Pro version)

    Changes this time:
    -Rebuilt code to speed up loading
    -Using settings.xml for storing all configuration to avoid problem with utf-8
    locations.xml files for earlier versions should be usable
    -Setup page should work better now. Click to cycle through options. "Done" will save changes, cancel will discard
    -Better reload logic. If autoupdate is off, nothing is downloaded unless you press refresh button. Forecast is now stored in separate files for each location. If auto off and file exists, it will show the latest file. If no file, it will clear and show a message to reload. When auto is on, it will check if there is a file and if it is current. If not, it will reload.

    Unzip over old. Backup locations.xml if you want to
    No changes to layout or graphic files so old themes should work

    Added version 1.6 in first post

    Same as version 1.5 with following addition:
    -Meteogram option finally working (Click and hold current weather icon to get to meteogram. Must have option enabled). Meteogram is not downloaded if option is not enabled. Press reload to download meteogram if none is present.
    Option in settings to enable this (Settings is reached by click and hold location name)
    cycle trough options by clicking the item you want to change

    nice man now its a complete app! everything works as said. Im having just one problem. it doesnt load anything for http://www.yr.no/place/Pakistan/Punjab/Rawalpindi/ for some reason. just says no valid file. and after trying to reload, the updated line at the bottom just says none. other locations work fine.

    Can you check that your entry in locations is exactly like below?

    Everything works great for me. Excellent work tehamn!

    Now that everything is working, I have a request. Home 2.1 makes is possible now to have full screen width applets. This is especially nice for 320x320 QVGA devices. If you look at my screen print you'll see that the right side of my screen is now empty. So, perhaps you could have a look at that.

    David001: Make sure you save the locations.xml file in utf-8 format

    Michaelp: What is not working?
    Are you getting script errors or is something else wrong?

    I am using 2.1.04 Pro with a HTC Touch Diamond WM6.1 latest HTC ROM version
    Everything is working for me?
    Anyone else having any problems?

    Hi,

    It is not working for me also (WM6.1 H2.1.04 free)

    I'm gettign this error message

    Looks like the YrWeather.cs file is not in the correct directory.
    Check that all files except the graphic files are in the directory
    Home2\AppletRibbon\YrWeather\

    The following files should be there:
    conversions.xml
    Icon.Large.jif
    Icon.Medium.jif
    Icon.Small.jif
    Locations.xml
    settings.xml
    terms.xml
    terms.norwegian.xml (if you want norwegian translation)
    YrWeather.cs

    In addition, there should be a directory with the graphic files
    This is vga or qvga depending on your device

    The last update did not contain all files so you should have started with 1.1 and then updated with 1.5 and finally 1.6 with overwrite

    I'll try to get the time to make a full install .zip file later on today to avoid the hassle of the current install.

    Uploaded new install zip with all files for vga
    Use the old qvga.zip file for qvga devices.
    There are no changes to the graphic files

    Am I the only one having problems updating any 'updatable' applets such as YrWeather, RSSreader, etc for .UIV2.1.04. They all worked fine in V2.0.34 and earlier.
    O2Flame wm5.

    tehamn, I am back from holidays and found your version 1.6 working great.I have one wish though, is it possible you show the most current forecast in stead of the first forecast as downloaded.this could imply that you cannot show the full 5 day forecast,but only the remaining days. in this situation you may consider giving the updated time an alarming color.

    I have posted all the PNG files so you are free to make your own if you want.
    There are free programs that you can use to modify the files like Gimp

    I can make a new background if you describe a bit better what you want
    Is it the same background but with some transparency in the background color?

    It is a free software to modify image files like png

    I have attached a zip with png and jif files for the background with fully transparent background (Only the frames)
    Copy the jif files from the relevant directory (qvga or vga) to the corresponding directory on your device

    @ post 84 screen shot attached.
    None of my update environments function in 2.1.04 including Home2 Update. YrWeather sits in 'updating' status. (I couldn't get update to work on 2.0.34 either)
    It is not a settings issue as I do not have this problem with 2.0.30 which I have reverted back to.

    I am afraid this is not related to my applet if you have the same problem with Pointui update. Can you please try to contact the Pointui crew?
    I have not experienced this problem but I am running a Diamond with WM6.1
