    Because it was requested and I had it in SlideToday:

    QuickLaunch-Applet for up to 30 Applications

    Tester needed!

    Now Subfolders are working!

    -it only works with files direct in {programs}, no Subfolders, no favourites(marked with a star in list)!
    - to remove links you have to edit settings.xml
    -remove by Click and Hold

    - settigs.xml for up to 30 Shortcuts added; PointUI Version 2.0.30b needed!

    - QuickLaunch_190409 works in Landscape!

    if you like it:

    hey mate great! just putted it on my device.. it works as it should be! nice and lightweight. just one little thing is missing :) remove apps.. i suggest by adding click hold; clicking an app for 2 seconds will make it disappear :)

    further.. its very nice!

    hehe.. nice:) btw with some of the programs i get an error... mmh i think that is due to the fact that it is installed in a different folder then program files.. but it is showing up in the program list?

    THE applet I've been waiting for!

    Thanks SO much!

    I've just noticed something, not much, I can smoothly slide to it, but when the applet centers on the screen, it freezes for like 2 seconds, (I'm connected to PC and have 9 applets on free version and 8% battery right now, maybe that's where it comes from)

    I removed an applet and am charging it, it's a little bit faster but there's still a little lapse of freezing, what is it due to?

    Except that, this app is the best i've seen so far xD that was THE one missing

    i think you have little memory at the moment. the applet has to load all shortcuts when activated, so if you phone has to do other things this need some time!

    Thanks so much, well anyway it's very good, it only freezes like 250 ms now that's perfect!

    Last Question: is there a way to make bigger icons to fit Tenius theme Icon? I think i can do it alone if you show me what codelines to modify and what they mean :D you did a great job so far

    Thanks a lot ;)

    Thank you! In short term I didn't notice any difference, maybe it'll be noticable once i've put it several times (I'm gonna rename the applet in several different names to have more than 1 app page :D) well thanks!

  13. Excellent early development :P

    I have noticed that on the Applet Ribbon, there is no "ICON" for the applet. Is it just mine, as it shows a blank, but clickable space to get to the actual added links?

    Refer to the attached please :P

    So if I have my Program files in the Storage card instead of main memory, will it still work? It seems that I can see my programs, but the applet doesn't capture the .ink or .exe file....

    Nevermind...it must have been a temporary glitch...it works now... :P

  15. Hi ... as the 1st post says "it only works with files direct in {programs}, no Subfolders, no favourites(marked with a star in list)! (should be no problem to copy the .lnk-files there)"

    Meaning yr links must be in Main Memory inside the \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ folder

    For example "Games" is a subfolder of Programs, so for yr games to work you need to copy the links to the Programs folder

    would it be possible for you to make the applet pre-load the shortcuts? Like messaging applet, so that it hasn't to load it each time it appears?

    Aussie_boi,

    Not necessarily....For example, I have PointUI 2 running entirely in the Storage, I have the shortcut to the storage in Startup files in main memory, so it starts automatically. Since PointUI is in my storage memory, it connects to the Program Files in the storage also....

  18. Same same, my Home2 is 100% on my SD Card, as are 90% of my installed programs. :p

    I was just quoting what jo_keks said in post #1 and my experience with other programs that were not links placed in the \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ folder. For example, I linked to native installed games, but they would not work unless I copied their link directly into the Programs folder.

    Anyway, it is working as advertised, basically, and it's just the beginning. I can see that a standard QVGA device could probably have 20 links.

    :P

    ok, the new version only preload once, so if you change the settings.xml manually you need to reload! I have no icon added because artwork isn't mine, post suggestions!
    Its not possible to add subfolders because {Programs} is named language/Rom specific, so its not possible to extract the right subfolder. You could try to edit the settings.xml manually!

    Edit: Maybe Subfolders could work with next pointui release, than i can put the whole path in the link. atm it doesn't work for all roms because e.g. in german roms is an "ΓΌ" in the link and pointui can't handle it.

    Mod for 18 apps attached look here, don't think that you need more (buttons would become to small)

    hey hovie,
    to play with sizes look for something like: btn.Set(x,y,Device.AutoScaleValue(36),Device.AutoScaleValue(36),a)
    36 means height and width, there are some other things, just play! Note: number of shortcuts is given in settings.xml!

    Just a comment jo-keks on size/number of shortcuts.

    Most of us come to this forum with a background in stylus operation in WMxx = Really annoying tiny scroll bars and switches. However some of the finger nav applications, including .UI have gone somewhat to the other extreme with oversized icons and wasted real estate. I'm also frustrated by having to scroll through the All Applications list to accidently click an applciation I didn't want.

    My VGA device is running very happily as a finger nav only device with a QVGA theme, ie, half sized icons. More here. This way nothing is more than 2 clicks away.

    So how about a user option to decide their own balance of form over function?

    hi michaelp,
    1. QuickLaunch should give fast access to your most important applications, i dont think that you need so much.
    2. Quick means also fast loading: more buttons & functions, less speed
    3. the size of icons is given from windows, so it's impossible to add much more. I told here how you can mod the applet.
    4. i think it's difficult to find a special application you want to start with a short view if you have to much icons.

    I'm happy for you to call it myLaunch instead of QuickLaunch ;)

    The other risk here is you to build for the lowest performing machine to give acceptable results and the higher end machines are left under utilized.

    I still like to be allowed the choice of whether I run fast or many. Thanks for your excellent work.

    I know but which are these icons? where can I find them?

    And will the Icon grow if I modify btn.Set(x,y,Device.AutoScaleValue(36),Device.AutoScaleValue(36),a) ?

    the icon size is given by windows. to chane an icon you need to google a little, there a a lot of howto's!

    jo_keks, It is possible to use lnk files that are in subfolders. You have to change the code that gets the application name. So if you look at about line 154 of the code:
    string NewAppName;
    int x, y;
    XmlNode app0,app1,app2;
    x = NewApp.IndexOfRev("\\") + 1;
    y = NewApp.GetLength() - x;
    NewAppName = NewApp.SubString(x, y);

    Replace the above code with:
    string NewAppName, rtPath;
    int x, y;
    XmlNode app0,app1,app2;
    rtPath = "\\Windows\\Start Menu\\Programs\\";
    x = rtPath.GetLength();
    y = NewApp.GetLength() - x;
    NewAppName = NewApp.SubString(x, y);

    I had actually made my own app launcher before finding this one and it works fine for files on subfolders. It still does not work for favorite files.
