  1. Update 13th June: Official release of 2.0, based on feedback from the RC release. This version should be Home 2.1 compatible, please feedback if it does not. For more information, please see the release notes in the next post

I have decided to create a new thread for my calendar applet, as it might be easier for me to track request/feedbacks for the upcoming version. The old version (version 1.6b2) remains as functional, but the new version will bring some new features plus most importantly, it's almost a complete rewrite in hoping to achieve better performance, and reusability. Here's some screenshot for preview.

You can find the summary/details of the key features in version 2.0, in two posts down.

  5. Very nice work, zenkinz!

    Wonderful applet!

  6. Really can't wait for Version2 (?) ...

I assume that QVGA will have a few features omitted?

    Hi,

    Just one question.
Do you plan a feature allowing to add an appointment ?

    Thx

    Posted 10 months ago #
  13. @Montecristoff, no I didn't plan for internationalisation, but should be adding this before the official release of version 2.0

@aussie_boi, I am trying to keep the features available to all devices, wide or normal. The difference will be for wide device, the calendar will be bigger (as per the screenshot) whereas in the normal device, it'll be smaller. Yes, the new release will be version 2.0 since this is a major release ;-)

@sxtheone, you don't need to pay just to get that battery icon. Head over this thread, to download the icon.

@ Hoyas95, no this is not the plan, there's no value for me to create that since this is an applet, not an application. In anycase, there's no scripting capability to create new appointment. I did have to build external exe that access pim database just to track the busy/free status of the month's calendar, so in theory I can provide that feature, but am trying to keep this simple.

    ^^^ zenkins:

Awesome job!!! Looks amazing and nice touch with enabling it as an object for reusability!

  16. Great zenkinz, as usual!
Just my point of view: many applications focus on showing as many appointments as possible for today and tomorrow. The problem is that many people have to track just one appointment in a whole day but need to scan several days in advance, in order to properly plan activities in time. For this reason IMHO it would be nice being able to chose the number of days of incoming appointments being shown.
Thank you for your efforts!! bye ;-)

  18. make some changes to the year view, so it's now more functional than before.

however, I'm still working on the images for the VGA/QVGA devices, which will be smaller than the wide version one.

Really great applet. Can't wait for the final release.

    Just some skinning suggestions:

+ Add option to turn calendar background on\off. I often use a dark background so the white date numbers would show well. Alternatively, perhaps get rid of the spot light glow in the middle of the background?
+ For the Yearly view a simple semi-transparent background (like the original theme) and white number should look real nice. Perhaps add an option for this?

    Cheers,

  20. the new calendar applet is skinnable. So if you want to "turn off the background", just create a transparent background with the same dimension. This applies for year, month and week calendar.

  21. I have decided to release calendar applet as "RC" version, but for VGA only. The purpose is to gather feedback on how the applet performs in other devices.

Take note that each time you navigate to a new month, you will notice there's system waiting cursor because the applet spawn a process to check for the busy status for the month.

Please download the attached CAB file from the first post of the thread.

    Zenkinz,

Nice update. I'm running an AT&T Fuze (vga). The Today appointments are behind the PointUI buttons. Screenshot attached.

Zenkinz message (before mine) said it was only for vga. It was worth giving it a try. I can always go back to the earlier vga version or wait for the vga version 2.

annoyingly, the appointments are behind the search bar. using an htc touch hd, which im pretty sure (correct me if im wrong) is a wvga device. deleted the relevant files in default theme for the search bar, but now the four shortcut icons at the bottom have shifted up to where the search bar was! anyone got any ideas? or am i just being incredibly dumb.

Will it be supported on WQVGA devices?

evilnim, in Point UI, go to 'menu' 'customize' & change the setting for 'Home Screen VAlign:' to Bottom. This should move the buttons down.
