    ^^^ zelender:

...I just downloaded the all fixes file and installed that and when I went to change the city no weather appeared at all. So I found a backup file and copied only the missing files and it worked with out probs. Just thought I would let you know.

Can you tell me what files were missing and/or you needed to recover? This is quite odd... thanks!

FYI, I have finished re-coding applet so appt's and tasks are together, weather is accessed via clock bar icon, and news at the bottom (I created 2 sets one without collapse and the other with it, so news is a bit tight in this one, but some separator graphics and a smaller collapse button might do the trick). Just waiting to see what Brsev thinks this applet re-org/concept or if he has any other ideas. I am so close to getting the contact card integration with birthday/anniversary appointments. I think after I complete this feature and if Brsev likes one of the concepts I coded above and updates the graphics I need that I mentioned in my previous post I'll be able to release the Final 2.5 ver. I wanted to add some extra graphics and animations, but I can add those later as they're just eye candy and all the functions are done and what matters, but I will definitely release the additional animations I've been working on in time.

  4. Sounds great NorrinRadd, I look forward to see what you've done, I'd be glad to beta test when you're ready and offer feedback / make graphics that fit.

One idea, that could probably be entirely graphics - if tasks and appointments are switched by a slider, the weather forecast could look like a floating window / pop-up / speech bubble expanding from the "today" weather. - if you get what I mean.

And another thing - I'm getting used to the idea of the news feed, but if possible, could it be 2 lines? Or have some way of dealing with long headlines, like a 'listscreen' or something?

It's finals and graduation soon, but I might get some VGA graphics done before then though.

    Thanks zelendel!
You can email it to me at kuya underscore mayns at hotmail dot com
Just want to make sure there isn't anything funky going on before I release 2.5 Final...

    Brsev:
Thanks for the input!!!! That's a great idea and that's what I did for the new volume animation I've been playing with where the entire screen darkens immediately to reveal an S2U2/HTC style volume up/down control, but this seemed a bit much and took 2 taps to access vs. just one currently. Shoot, doing this for weather is awesome I'll have it slide up from the bottom and slide back down after like 5 seconds unless you decide to tap it to cycle through cities or tap n hold for weather settings after which it will reset the timer for another 5 seconds before sliding away or just tap some button as well to dismiss it. I'll definitely need your help on the graphics for this as the weather bubble should have a transparent background much darker than the current applet so it stands out and truly looks on top of everything. Also, not sure if there's anough room for 2 lines, but having it go to list screen to scroll all the headlines and click to open them in a browser is a great idea as well, I'll run with this one. Cool, I'm hyped about this I'll recode and post a prototype of it hopefully this weekend and god willing all my 2.5 Final functions done too...!

Thanks everyone for all your input, I feel pretty confident about my 2.5 Final release now... ^_^

btw, I can't wait for your updated VGA graphics too and code is ready to test it. Take your time though and focus on Finals and congratulations on your upcoming graduation!!!!!

For those of us with WQVGA devices could you please design a 'Search' button that compliments the look of the applet?

    Posted 9 months ago #
  10. Your Very welcome Norrin. I am honored to have had a small part in helping with applet. As always If there is anything I can do to help just let me know.

  11. Here's how I first imagined it, could just be the weather background file. I like the contrast with the matte white-gray, but I could try solid black or transparent gray too.

@josh, below - with or without the tail/arrow thing, of course.
I'm also not sure how/if it would be animated, I feel like the transition should be really quick, but a fade or something might be better than a slide.

sorry, brsev, but i'd prefer just the white-gray matte background without the "tail". it does not have to "point" to the weather icon in the bar to show that it's meant to be for the weather function.

Brsev, I like that, very clean and simple. I'm still coding my idea of the new weather and let's just say it's a lot bigger. I'll post a prototype or email you so you can see how you'd like to do the graphics then. Sorry, taking me a bit longer as my phone nearly bricked and I took this as a sign to reflash my ROM to a WM6.5 ROM, so getting used to the new OS and playing around and tweaking it as it's quite memory intensive, but surprisingly fast on my old TMO Wing!

    @Brsev

This could just be me, but I think that "pop-up" is pretty darn sexy. :)

Animation should definitely be quick. Fade-in and fade-out would probably be the best solution (other than having it appear small and growing to be that size.) Like it was growing out underneath the weather icon. idk if that's even possible with PointUI, but it would be cool.

    Posted 9 months ago #
  15. Thanks - Yeah bcbomb, that's exactly what I was thinking with the 'expand', but you're right it can't be done with Home2.
Norrin - I know, 6.5 is pretty good, even just for the kinetic scroll - also, of course I'll adapt to whatever displays weather best/fastest - nothing like too-cramped screens to make the whole thing look unprofessional.

  16. Hey Guys Just an idea. I really like the graphics for the system internals Brsev so why not do the 5 day weather in the same fashion. Have it slide down from the top or bottom with a similar look as the other sliders?

That's a great idea!!!! Sorry, I'm taking so long (been tweaking my new WM6.5 ROM a bit more to get it just right), but wait till I upload a prototype .cs file for Weather which basically has it taking the whole screen up.

    Posted 9 months ago #
  18. No prob man I have seen you lurking around XDA so I guessed that is what you were doing.

    Looking Forward to the prototype.cs.

  19. Sounds great NorrinRadd - I feel like this applet could be split into multiple pieces though, once 2.1 allows applets to call each other. As in, MyStatus has the mini-calendar and today's weather, and for details you go to the full calendar applet and weather forecast applet. Just an idea though, having it in one applet gives more freedom to customize, but Home2 still feels a little more laggy than it did before this applet.
Also - 6.5 on the vogue is getting better and better over on XDA thanks to nfsfan, I might have to try it again myself.

^^^ This is true, which is why with 2.1 I will also re-code MyStatus into multiple .cs files (i.e., Main .cs with appts/tasks, weather.cs, calendar.cs, etc.) to better organize things and improve performance.

Hi all, I'm new to PointUI but recently was reviewing couple of different alternative home plugins (HTC Home, Manilla 2D and couple others) and find this one the best - mainly because of it's flexibility and extensibility.

I'm having the same error as dancer69 as well - first it complaints about the PointUI.cs script cannot be found, then it looks like it cannot find different objects and/or methods: IsNoService and IsRoaming i SignalCheck(), Slide in LoadAppointments().

    Any siggestions?

    Cheers,
    Tomasz

After a dinner and a while of looking into the MyStatus.cs in the 2.5RC I see some errors in the code (I have no experience with PoinUI but I have 20yrs experience in programming ;).

    1) the uses reference the nonexisting PointUI.cs script

    2) (the Slide referencie in LoadAppointments) - there seems to be two methods called LoadAppointments with different descriptors. I'm not sure how the PointUI scripting engine works but it looks like both calls LoadAppointments() and LoadAppointments([bool param]) call the method with descriptor LoadAppointments(bool Slide). changing all occurences of LoadAppointments() to LoadAppointments(true) seems to solve the error, but I'm not sure if it's the right solution

    3) in the LoadMeterControls() there signalQuality defined inside the if{} statement but it's also refenced in it's else{} section. Moving definition of this valiable outside the if{} statement solves the error

    4) in the SignalCheck() method there are two variables defined: IsNoServ, IsRoam but later they are referenced as IsNoService and IsRoaming - fixing the names solves the error

    still fixing others, but...

...how come this script could ever work fine?
